While hiking in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, one of my traveling companions, Yuko, penned this lovely sketch during our break, sitting in the shade, with the heat crawling upwards to 48 degrees Celsius. Yuko clearly has talent, which is evident in her delicate touch.

from Vulgar Verse. Carmen was also the creative force behind designing the front cover to Friction,
my second poetry collection.
