Up high on the balcony
the wind took my words
when I tried to say,
I love you. I love you, my friend.
As I have from the beginning
when we met,
I tried to tell you
how powerful I felt,
With you standing by my side,
elegantly on the edge you looked
straight as an arrow in flight.
How might I tell you?
To wear down your defences,
to make you glance my way
before I lose my nerve and cannot say,
I love you. I love you, my friend.

Bluebottle fly
Eat my decomposed flesh
Remind me of my mortality.
I live to die
Am part of the food chain,
No matter
How privileged
Or poor am I
I shall see the end.
